It\u2019s in Texas, but feels worlds apart from the rest of the state. A visit to the State Capitol gives you the chance to join a free tour and learn more about the Lone Star State. Inside the rotunda, gaze up at the beautiful dome with its massive star. You can also visit both the senate and the house chambers, and see portraits of famous Texans, like LBJ, George W., and that other guy\u2026 I can\u2019t remember\u2026 oops. Head upstairs and take in the view from above before moving on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Another great free thing to do is check out the Hope Outdoor Gallery. Started back in 2010 as an experiment, this graffiti wall has become a local icon. Just as the place itself, the art you see isn\u2019t meant to be permanent. Visitors can bring a can of spray paint and add to the wall as they please. Climb up to the top to enjoy the views of the city. Plans are in the works for the park to be moved to a new and improved location, so stay tuned to their website for updates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">We love happy hours, and we found a good one at Easy Tiger. Pretzels with beer cheese and Old Fashioneds for just a few bucks each!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Austin is all about the barbecue, and you\u2019ve got lots of options here. A great choice is Stubb\u2019s, where you can munch on spicy pollitos while you wait for your epic plate of BBQ.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This town loves to party. Get started at Beer Land, a great dive bar where you can play some classic arcade games, shoot a round of pool, and sip on $2 Lone Star beers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">They call Austin the Live Music Capital of the World, so it\u2019s back into Stubb\u2019s to catch the band. If you\u2019re in town during a free week, go ahead and bounce around to a few other bars. Back at Stubb\u2019s, we thoroughly enjoyed the tunes from Austin\u2019s own Money Chicha.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">After a night like that you\u2019ll need a solid brunch. Head to Blue Star, where you can get a Bloody Mary alongside a bagel with lox or a tasty Eggs Benedict.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Wind down the trip with a hike up to the overlook by the 360 Bridge. On a nice day, you\u2019ll see the sun and moon.
