How have you been? More specifically, how have you been <strong>sleeping<\/strong>?\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The reason I ask is that I came across a very thought-provoking article the other day. Don\u2019t worry, this is not another post about coronavirus. But it is somehow connected to it, to be honest! The article goes on about how some people have been reporting a significant change in the kind of <strong>dreams<\/strong> they have been having during this intense period of worldwide confinement and sanitary crisis. People claim to be <strong>dreaming<\/strong> far more frequently and way more realistically than usual. Have you been experiencing the same? I, for, one, definitely have. Well, even though it is very tempting to delve into this, the topic actually inspired me to dig into a list <strong>sleep<\/strong>, <strong>dreams<\/strong> and <strong>rest<\/strong>-related idioms that permeate the English language and can come in very handy whenever we feel like using a more figurative language to express ourselves. So, enough <strong>daydreaming<\/strong> and let\u2019s get to it!<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>to sleep on something<\/strong> &#8211; to wait for a while before you make an important decision<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Buying a house is a major step! Why don\u2019t we <strong>sleep on it<\/strong> before we make up our minds?\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">My husband is still not sure about the trip to Europe next summer. Did you <strong>get out of bed on the wrong side<\/strong> this morning?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I meant to ask my boss for a raise today, but he looked like he <strong>got out of bed on the wrong side <\/strong>so I changed my mind.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>to put something to bed<\/strong> &#8211; to stop discussing or dealing with an issue<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I thought we had <strong>put the matter to bed<\/strong> last meeting, but our manager insists on changing suppliers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I know we\u2019ve been married for a year, but I already told you I don\u2019t think it is the right time to have a baby. Can\u2019t we just <strong>put this to bed<\/strong> for now?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>hit the sack\/ the hay &#8211;<\/strong> to go to bed in order to sleep<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Well, we\u2019ve all got to get up early tomorrow, so it\u2019s time to <strong>hit the hay<\/strong>!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gosh, I\u2019m so exhausted! I think I\u2019m just going to <strong>hit the sack<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>beyond your wildest dreams<\/strong> &#8211; something better than you imagined<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After Tony came into that inheritance money from his uncle, he got rich <strong>beyond his wildest dreams<\/strong>!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Once we got to the island in Greece, it was gorgeous<strong> beyond our wildest dreams<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>would not dream of something<\/strong> &#8211; not to dare to do something<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Steve could really use some money this month, but he<strong> would not dream of<\/strong> asking his parents for it!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When I was your age I <strong>would not even dream<\/strong> of disrespecting my teachers like that.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>pipe dream &#8211;<\/strong> a plan that you know will never come true<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">My dad always wanted to quit his job and open up his own business, but he knew it was just a <strong>pipe dream<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When I was a teenager I had my heart set on becoming an actress. But I soon realized that I had better get over this <strong>pipe dream<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This is it for now!
