With most countries still transitioning to new levels of normality with the emergence of Covid-19 vaccines, the majority of us was still spending a lot longer at home than usual (and logging a lot more hours on the web). And one of the most trivial and commonplace activities online are web searches. On average, how often do you google things? Do you normally google things in English or do you stick to your native language?<\/span><\/p>\n

Today\u2019s post is based on Google\u2019s yearly report on search trends. Every year, the tech giant releases their \u201cA Year in Search\u201d page, compiling the most popular terms and phrases of the past 12 months worldwide. Keep in mind, though, that these results leave out top searches from the previous year, so Covid and vaccines will not be <\/span>featured in the <\/span>annual recap.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you want to satisfy your curiosity and find out what people typed into their search bars this, say no more! Find below a list of the <\/span>most googled keywords and questions in English in 2021<\/b>– explained (so you don\u2019t have to google them again!):<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Australia vs \u00cdndia –<\/b> It refers to the Indian cricket team matches in Australia.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. India vs England –<\/b> Similarly, this is about the Indian cricket team touring England.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. IPL –<\/b> Again, IPL stands for <\/span>Indian Premier League<\/span><\/i>, a professional cricket league.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. NBA –<\/b> It stands for <\/span>National Basketball Association<\/span><\/i>, a professional basketball league in the U.S.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Euro 2021 –<\/b> More sports! <\/span>\u00a0People were looking for info on the <\/span>UEFA European Championship<\/span><\/i>, the international men’s soccer tournament that takes place in Europe every four years.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Copa Am\u00e9rica –<\/b> the 47th men’s soccer championship in South America, which took place in Brazil.<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. India vs New Zealand –<\/b> You guessed it! \u00cdndia’s cricket team touring New Zealand.<\/span><\/li>\n
  8. T20 World Cup – And of course, <\/span>\u00a0the international championship of cricket, whose cup is currently held by Australia.<\/span><\/li>\n
  9. Squid Game – <\/b>On a different note, this entry is about Netflix\u2019s hugely sucessful and highly acclaimed Korean TV show, which stands as the platform\u2019s most watched series.<\/span><\/li>\n
  10. DMX –<\/b> American rapper who peaked in the early 2000s\u2019 and died of a heart attack as a result of a drug overdose in April of this year.<\/span><\/span>\n
