{"id":98,"date":"2012-01-05T09:00:43","date_gmt":"2012-01-05T14:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/english\/?p=98"},"modified":"2012-01-04T14:42:03","modified_gmt":"2012-01-04T19:42:03","slug":"a-drive-through-boston-massachusetts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/english\/a-drive-through-boston-massachusetts\/","title":{"rendered":"A drive through Boston, Massachusetts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For this post I&#8217;ve selected a short video driving tour of Boston, Massachusetts to share with you.\u00a0 Boston is New England\u2019s largest city.\u00a0 This video will give you a nice glimpse* into what there is to do and see in this city.\u00a0 I have highlighted the different landmarks shown in the video and given you some background about these places in the narration below.\u00a0 Enjoy!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Streets of Boston\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/84VH69aaae0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>The video opens<\/strong> with a car driving across the iconic <em>Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge<\/em> (or <em>Zakim Bridge<\/em>), which is a cable style bridge that crosses the Charles River.\u00a0 The bridge is new in this historic city.\u00a0 It was completed in 2003.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3 seconds<\/strong> into the video you see the <em>TD Garden<\/em> on the right-hand side.\u00a0 This is New England&#8217;s premier** sports center.\u00a0 It is the home of the <em>Boston Bruins<\/em> (a hockey team) and <em>Boston Celtics<\/em> (a basketball team).<\/p>\n<p><strong>12 seconds<\/strong> into the video you see <em>Fenway Park<\/em>.\u00a0 This is home of the <em>Boston Red Sox<\/em> (a baseball team).\u00a0 Fenway Park opened in 1912 and is now the oldest Major League Baseball Park currently in use in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Around <strong>23 seconds<\/strong> into the video the camera focuses on the <em>Prudential Tower<\/em>.\u00a0 This is one of the tallest buildings in the city.\u00a0 The building has the highest observation deck in New England, which is located on the 50th floor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>32 seconds<\/strong> into the video we are now traveling down a busy street in <em>Downtown Boston<\/em>.\u00a0 You can see a bus stop on the right as well as brick sidewalks.\u00a0 There are many brick sidewalks in Boston and New England.<\/p>\n<p><strong>40 seconds<\/strong> into the video we are now traveling through the tourist central of <em>Harvard Square<\/em>.\u00a0 This area is no longer technically the city of Boston; Harvard University is located in the city of Cambridge across the river from Boston.\u00a0 The red brick buildings you see in the background are part of Harvard University\u2019s campus.\u00a0 Harvard University is a private university that was established in 1636.\u00a0 It is the oldest institution of higher learning in the United States.<\/p>\n<p><strong>49 seconds<\/strong> into the video you see old Brownstone buildings.\u00a0 Brownstone building were a common architectural style for urban row houses in 19th century in the United States.
