One of L.L. Zamenhof&#8217;s artistic works, known simply as &#8220;<strong>La Espero<\/strong>&#8221; (the hope) tries to answer that question.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;La Espero&#8221; is a simple, 24-line poem written as a series of rhyming couplets in four-line stanzas. Zamenhof wrote it in the late 1800s as a means of expressing exactly what he wanted to achieve by inventing Esperanto. The poem has resounded with many Esperantists, to the point that it has become almost a hymn, or an anthem. You most likely would hear it set to music. &#8220;La Espero&#8221; is usually sung during worldwide Esperanto events, as a quick reminder why such events convene in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the text of the poem.
