(France celebrated\u00a0&#8220;the storming of the Bastille.&#8221;) Apart from\u00a0the symbolic\u00a0value that this iconic day\u00a0has acquired over the past two centuries, it is now important for the\u00a0French, who are still <a href=\"http:\/\/www.debatidentitenationale.fr\/\">rediscovering and &#8220;debating&#8221;\u00a0their <em>identit\u00e9 nationale<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0to reconsider<em> <\/em>the<em> \u00e9v\u00e8nements cruciaux<\/em> (crucial events) that took place in that year of <strong>1789<\/strong>, and &#8220;re-integrate&#8221; them back into their true historical perspective.<\/p>\n<p>Far from being similar to a <em>date de naissance <\/em>(the birthday) of Hichem -as Jennie said in\u00a0her last post, understandably because she didn&#8217;t have time to read my extra-long post, being probably busy with the celebration of her own birthday: <strong><em>Joyeux Anniversaire Jennie<\/em><\/strong> <em>!<\/em>&#8211;\u00a0or even the birthday of\u00a0the authentic French Revolution, which is in fact to be traced back\u00a0to the courant of great major French\u00a0figures such as <strong>Lafayette<\/strong>, <strong>Beaumarchais<\/strong>,\u00a0and <strong>Lavoisier<\/strong>, whose lofty and determined efforts culminated with the\u00a0first French <strong><em>Assembl\u00e9e Nationale<\/em><\/strong> &#8212;\u00a0the <em>14\u00a0jullet<\/em> (July 14th), on the\u00a0contrary, is more to be viewed -just as the <em>magnifique<\/em> <strong>Chateaubriand<\/strong> observed, as a\u00a0day marking a<em> coup d&#8217;\u00e9tat<\/em>\u00a0againt the <em>Assembl\u00e9e Nationale<\/em>, and\u00a0in favor of\u00a0its sworn ennemis,\u00a0namely the shadowy\u00a0group dominated by the ever-intriguing <strong>Duc d&#8217;Orl\u00e9ans<\/strong>, together with his <em>&#8220;cohort \u00e9trang\u00e8re&#8221; <\/em>(see below\u00a0&#8220;la Marseillaise&#8221;)\u00a0of<em> <\/em>&#8220;<em><strong>les 3 SUiSSES<\/strong>&#8221; <\/em>(The three Swiss: <strong>Necker<\/strong>, <strong>Marat<\/strong>, and the\u00a0<strong>Baron de Besenval<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n<p>In other words,\u00a0seen within\u00a0its accurate\u00a0historical perspective, it is the triumph of Lafayette&#8217;s and the people of France as a whole,\u00a0on\u00a0<strong>June 20th<\/strong> (the birthday of the\u00a0Assembl\u00e9e Nationale following the historical <em><strong>Serment du Jeu de Paume<\/strong><\/em>),\u00a0which ought\u00a0to be celebrated as <strong><em>une f\u00eate nationale <\/em><\/strong>in France,\u00a0instead\u00a0of the &#8220;<em>3 SUiSSES<\/em>&#8221; and the Duc d&#8217;Orl\u00e9an&#8217;s (temporary, of course) &#8220;<strong><em>jour de gloire<\/em><\/strong>&#8220;, which took place\u00a0three weeks later,\u00a0on\u00a0a <strong>July 14th<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>For more details, I invite you to read -or as the French like to say,\u00a0&#8220;relire&#8221;
