What would it mean if you hear someone telling you in French: “allez, grouille<\/strong>-toi !”<\/em>?
\nOr if you’re offered something “gratos<\/strong><\/em>“?<\/p>\n

After we\u00a0went through\u00a0the first two parts of the letter ‘G<\/em>‘, here comes la troisi\u00e8me partie <\/em>(the third part):<\/p>\n

“G comme…<\/em>” (G as in…)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

* GONFL\u00c9:<\/em><\/strong><\/span>
\nWe have already seen in “\u201cD comme\u2026\u201d B.A.-BA de l\u2019Argot (the ABC of French Slang: \u2018D\u2019)<\/a>“<\/em> <\/strong>that the verb “se d\u00e9gonfler<\/em><\/strong>” means\u00a0to become “deflated<\/strong>“,\u00a0but means in argot “<\/em>to become scared”, to “chicken out”, to become a “coward.” An equivalent (informal)\u00a0expression is “avoir la frousse<\/em>“, “avoir la trouille<\/em>“,\u00a0or “avoir froid aux yeux<\/em>“: Literally to get “cold in the eyes”, or “to get\u00a0cold eyes”, which of course should remind us of the expression\u00a0“getting cold feet” in English.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0adjectif\u00a0“gonfl\u00e9<\/em><\/strong>” means just the\u00a0opposite (without the prefix “d\u00e9-<\/em>“),\u00a0as in bold, brave,\u00a0verging on insolence and impertinence.<\/p>\n

* GONZESSE:<\/em>
\n<\/span><\/strong>Means a “chick”, a girl.\u00a0It is not necessarily offensive, but it’s\u00a0not\u00a0normally\u00a0intended to be used in polite company either.
\nPopular French singer Renaud <\/strong>has a song called “Ma gonzesse” <\/strong><\/em>(“My chick”):
\n
