While listening to RFI<\/a><\/strong>, I learned that this week is la semaine de la langue fran\u00e7aise<\/strong> (French Language Week) as part of the celebration for la journ\u00e9e de la francophonie<\/a><\/strong> (Francophonie Day) on March 20th.<\/p>\n

On l’\u00e9mission<\/strong> (the show) they talked about one of the fun events going, Dis-moi dix mots<\/a><\/strong> (Tell me ten words), where dix mots<\/strong> (ten words) are chosen to celebrate la langue fran\u00e7aise<\/strong> (the French language). This year la th\u00e9matique <\/strong>(the theme) is, “dis-moi dix mots… que tu accueilles” : une invitation au voyage<\/em> (“Tell me ten words… that you embrace”: an invitation to travel).<\/p>\n

Les dix mots<\/strong> were chosen to highlight words that la langue fran\u00e7aise<\/strong> has borrowed and integrated from other languages.<\/p>\n

During l’\u00e9mission<\/strong>, high school students presented short stories and poems they had written using all ten of the words, called une cha\u00eene de mots<\/strong> (a string of words). Can you cr\u00e9er une histoire<\/strong> (create a story) using les dix mots<\/strong>? Take a look at what cha\u00eenes de mots<\/strong><\/a> other people have already come up with, and try creating your own!<\/p>\n
