Many people in ma famille<\/strong> celebrate their anniversaire<\/strong> (birthday) in juin <\/strong>(June), including me! Aujourd\u2019hui<\/strong> (today) we\u2019re going to take a look at how to wish someone a Happy Birthday.<\/p>\n

There are a two ways to say Happy Birthday in French:<\/p>\n

Joyeux anniversaire !<\/em>
\nBon anniversaire !<\/em><\/p>\n

Tr\u00e8s souvent<\/strong> (very often) a short phrase<\/strong> is attached:<\/p>\n

Passe une tr\u00e8s bonne journ\u00e9e !\u00a0<\/strong> Have a very good day!<\/em>
\nPasse une excellente journ\u00e9e !<\/strong> Have an excellent day!<\/em><\/p>\n

Of course, no anniversaire<\/strong> is complete with singing Joyeux Annivesaire<\/strong> <\/em>(Happy Birthday to You<\/em>) before on souffle les bougies de son g\u00e2teau d\u2019anniversaire<\/strong> (you blow out the candles on your birthday cake). It\u2019s an easy song and you should try singing it the next time someone celebrates their anniversaire<\/strong>! Just fill in the blanks with the name of the person celebrating their anniversaire<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Joyeux anniversaire,<\/em>

Cependant<\/strong> (however), le fran\u00e7ais<\/strong> is a global language<\/a>, and au Canada<\/strong><\/a> there is a slightly different expression used to wish people joyeux anniversaire<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Bonne f\u00eate!<\/strong><\/p>\n

And with this slightly different expression comes a slightly different song, Bonne f\u00eate \u00e0 toi<\/strong><\/em>:<\/p>\n
