Cette semaine on f\u00eate le 14 juillet ou la f\u00eate nationale<\/strong> or Bastille Day as it’s known in English speaking countries. Le 14 juillet<\/strong><\/a> is something like la version fran\u00e7aise<\/strong> (the French version) of the fourth of July.<\/p>\n

Pendant le 14 juillet<\/strong> there are a few big celebrations: le d\u00e9fil\u00e9 militaire<\/strong> (the military parade) during the day and then at night les spectacle de feux d’artifice<\/strong> (the fireworks shows). However, cette semaine<\/strong> (this week) I learned something about les feux d’artifice<\/strong> that I didn’t know before.<\/p>\n

Au 13 juillet<\/strong>, while at home I suddenly heard the loud bangs des feux d’artifice<\/strong> going off in the distance. I thought I’d missed le spectacle<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

It turns out that les spectacles de feux d’artifice<\/strong> are spread out over a few days. Smaller towns have their spectacles<\/strong> earlier so that everyone is sure to come to the bigger cities during la f\u00eate nationale<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

One other way to f\u00eater<\/strong> (celebrate) is, bien s\u00fbr<\/strong>, to have a good time avec tes amis<\/strong> (with your friends). Just be careful, if you have too much fun you might wake up the next day with la gueule de bois<\/strong> (a hangover)!<\/p>\n
