It also marks <strong>la saison des moissons<\/strong> (the harvest season) and many holidays across the world. However, there\u2019s one <strong>tradition d\u2019automne<\/strong> (autumn tradition) that is annoying for everyone involved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>L&#8217;heure d\u2019hiver<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Standard time<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/drill-this-dans-vos-tetes-confusing-pairs-dans-vs-en\/\">En automne<\/a> on gagne une heure<\/strong> (you gain an hour in autumn). The shifting clocks <strong>sont un casse-t\u00eate pour tout le monde<\/strong> (give everyone a headache) while people spend a week trying to wake up at a new time. <strong>Malheureusement, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/il-est-facile-cest-facile-confusing-pairs-cest-vs-il-est\/\">c&#8217;est<\/a> encore plus compliqu\u00e9<\/strong> (unfortunately it&#8217;s even more complicated) between France and the US.<\/p>\n<p>I live in France, but <strong>mes parents habitent <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/which-stateprovince-are-you-from-expression-location-in-french\/\">en Floride<\/a><\/strong> (my parents live in Florida). Normally, <strong>le d\u00e9calage horaire est de six heures<\/strong> (there&#8217;s a six hour time difference) between France and the US East Coast, and <strong>heureusement<\/strong> (thankfully) that\u2019s easy to figure out on a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/22476-2\/\">24 hour clock<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a period in autumn when the US falls back, but France still uses <strong>l&#8217;heure d&#8217;\u00e9t\u00e9<\/strong> (daylight-saving time) creating a 7 hour time difference between the two countries. <strong>Le d\u00e9calage horaire<\/strong> (the time difference) lasts long enough to get used to before France falls back as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Le passage \u00e0 l\u2019heure d\u2019hiver<\/strong> (the transition to standard time) happens on <strong>le dernier dimanche d\u2019octobre<\/strong> (the last Sunday of October) in France and on <strong>le premier dimanche de novembre<\/strong> (the first Sunday of November) in (most) of the US.
