{"id":22669,"date":"2015-12-02T16:17:36","date_gmt":"2015-12-02T15:17:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/?p=22669"},"modified":"2017-10-24T14:52:18","modified_gmt":"2017-10-24T12:52:18","slug":"planes-trains-and-carpooling-in-france","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/planes-trains-and-carpooling-in-france\/","title":{"rendered":"Planes, Trains, and Carpooling in France"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Between all the subways, bus stops, train stations, and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/aeroports-and-avions-taking-a-plane-in-french\/\">airports<\/a>, it\u2019s easy to get lost even if you\u2019re not struggling in a foreign language. <strong>C&#8217;est-\u00e0-dire<\/strong> (that is to say) travelling while abroad can be difficult.<\/p>\n<p>All the different <strong>moyens de transport<\/strong> (modes of transport, means of travel) can be confusing.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Est-ce qu&#8217;on devrait prendre le train&#8230;. un avion&#8230; un taxi&#8230;<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Should we take a train&#8230; an airplane&#8230; a taxi&#8230;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-28891\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/12\/traffic-407696_960_720.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"767\" height=\"510\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/12\/traffic-407696_960_720.jpg 960w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/12\/traffic-407696_960_720-350x233.jpg 350w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/12\/traffic-407696_960_720-768x510.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 100vw, 767px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then there are the less common <strong>moyens de transport<\/strong> that are often overlooked like <strong>l&#8217;autostop<\/strong> (hitchhiking) and<strong> le covoiturage<\/strong> (carpooling). <strong>L&#8217;autostop<\/strong> is overlooked because it can be dangerous, but <strong>le covoiturage<\/strong> is only skipped over because you need to know people in order to take advantage of it.<\/p>\n<p>However, <strong>le<\/strong> <strong>covoiturage<\/strong> has gained in popularity <strong>en France<\/strong> in recent years, and there are now websites dedicated to finding passengers where people will list their travel plans and how much they charge to get from one location to another.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Le covoiturage<\/strong> is much cheaper than any other <strong>moyen de transport<\/strong>, but for that\u2019s not why it\u2019s <strong>la meilleure choix<\/strong> (the best option).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blablacar.fr\/\">Blablacar.fr<\/a>, a site for finding people who want to <strong>faire du covoiturage<\/strong> (carpool), is focused not just on transportation, but on the idea that you can have someone to talk to while you travel.<\/p>\n<p>That means having an engaged speaker for the duration of your <strong>voyage<\/strong> (journey)!
