The holiday season is here and that means gifts, les march\u00e9s de no\u00ebl<\/strong><\/a>, and le temps libre<\/a><\/strong> (free time). A lot of people will be using le temps<\/a><\/strong> to catch up on les jeux vid\u00e9os<\/strong> (video games) they didn\u2019t have the time to play earlier in the year. Other people will be excited receiving their favorite jeu<\/strong> as un cadeau<\/a><\/strong> (a gift)!<\/p>\n

Personally, I\u2019ve been sucked into my early cadeau<\/strong> of Final Fantasy VI <\/em>(in French the title du jeu<\/strong> is also in English) and have been enjoying playing through the classic game for the first time. I am not playing the game in English though.<\/p>\n

Un jeu vid\u00e9o<\/strong> can actually be a great opportunity to practice your French! Most games allow you to change the language of the entire game, giving you a new way to immerse yourself in the language even if you\u2019re nowhere near la francophonie<\/strong><\/a>!<\/p>\n

While some of le vocabulaire<\/strong> like la queue de ph\u00e9nix<\/span>, l’\u00e9ther, et la potion<\/strong> (phoenix down, ether, and potion), is not very useful, it still provides a great opportunity to both have fun and learn. D’ailleurs<\/strong> (in any case), those words aren’t very useful in English either!<\/p>\n

Learning with les jeux vid\u00e9os<\/strong> works best with un jeu de r\u00f4le<\/strong> (a roleplaying game), or any jeu<\/strong> that has an intricate story and tons of dialogue. Cela dit<\/strong> (that said), it’s still useful even if you\u2019re just rushing through le tutoriel<\/strong> (the tutorial) of un jeu<\/strong> more focused on l’action<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

While you\u2019re rushing to buy your favorite jeux<\/strong> during les soldes d’hiver sur Steam<\/strong> (the winter sales on Steam), pensez \u00e0<\/strong> (think about) changing the language to French to help you keep learning even while you\u2019re having fun this holiday season<\/a>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\"\"
