Summer has been here for a few weeks, and that means la f\u00eate de la musique<\/strong><\/a> and la canicule<\/a><\/strong> are here as well, but there is another summer tradition happening this week that can help you practice French: Summer Games Done Quick!<\/em><\/p>\n

Summer Games Done Quick or SGDQ<\/em> is un \u00e9v\u00e9nement de charit\u00e9<\/strong> (a charity event) focused on speedrunning<\/em>. Le speedrunning<\/strong><\/a> is playing un jeu vid\u00e9o<\/a><\/strong> (a video game) with the goal of beating it as fast as possible. There are speedrunning communities around the world including in la francophonie<\/strong><\/a>, and they all come together for this \u00e9v\u00e9nement de speedrunning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

L\u2019\u0153uvre de charit\u00e9<\/strong> (the charity) that SGDQ benefits is MSF<\/strong> (M\u00e9decins Sans Fronti\u00e8re<\/em>, Doctors Without Borders) and last year they raised over 1,2 million de dollars<\/strong><\/a> (1.2 million dollars) over the course of l\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

While the \u00e9v\u00e9nement<\/strong> takes place aux<\/a> \u00c9tats-Uni<\/strong>s (in the United States), SGDQ is retransmise en direct<\/strong> (streamed, broadcast) in French as well! It\u2019s a great way to watch your favorite jeu vid\u00e9o<\/strong> be beat in ways you could never imagine and practice French at the same time.<\/p>\n
