But once you begin using it, you&#8217;ll never be able to go back. There aren&#8217;t any precise measurements, but that&#8217;s what makes it special: add a little bit of this, a pinch of that, to adjust the recipe to your preferences.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I never knew how to make a delicious <em>vinaigrette \u00e0 la moutarde<\/em> until my mother-in-law showed me. Now I never buy the store bought stuff, because it just isn&#8217;t as tasty.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-29032\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/08\/salad-2756467_960_720.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"752\" height=\"501\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/08\/salad-2756467_960_720.jpg 960w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/08\/salad-2756467_960_720-350x233.jpg 350w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/08\/salad-2756467_960_720-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 752px) 100vw, 752px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>All you need is: <em>quelques gousses d&#8217;ail<\/em> (several garlic cloves),\u00a0<em>du vinaigre balsamique <\/em>(balsamic vinegar),<em>du vinaigre de cidre\u00a0<\/em>(apple cider vinegar),\u00a0<em>de l&#8217;huile v\u00e9g\u00e9tale\u00a0<\/em>(vegetable oil; olive oil is often too dense\/heavy), <em>des \u00e9chalotes\u00a0<\/em>(shallots), <em>de la moutarde de Dijon\u00a0<\/em>(Dijon mustard), <em>du miel<\/em>\u00a0(honey),<em> du sel<\/em>\u00a0(salt),<em> et du poivre <\/em>(pepper).<\/p>\n<p><em>Mettez quelques gousses d&#8217;ail (enti\u00e8res ou coup\u00e9es) et des\u00a0<em>\u00e9chalotes coup\u00e9es\u00a0<\/em>dans un shaker ou un bocal herm\u00e9tique.\u00a0M\u00e9langez le sel, le miel, et la moutarde dans les deux vinaigres dans le shaker. Ajoutez doucement l\u2019huile et le poivre.\u00a0<em>M\u00e9langez .<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Put several garlic cloves (whole or chopped) in a salad shaker or a closed container. Mix the salt, honey, and mustard in the two vinegars in the container. Slowly add the oil and the pepper. Shake.<\/p>\n<p>As I said, the exact measures can be determined by your own preferences (taste as you go). Typically, you want double the amount of oil to the amount of vinegar (divided equally between balsamic and apple cider). If you want your dressing a little spicier, add more mustard (if you can find the French brand Maille, use this!). If, however, you like it a bit sweeter, add a little more honey. Make sure you make the dressing in a large enough container where you can store it for the week.
