Les JO continuent au Br\u00e9sil<\/em>. (The Olympics continue in Brazil.) So let\u2019s had back to sunny Rio, cette semaine<\/em> (this week) in the company of another famous French singer.<\/p>\n

During his all-to-brief life, he sold over 70 million albums. A number of his hits (like the one below)* were French remakes of successful English and American pop songs. And in a bit of a \u00ab\u00a0reversal\u00a0\u00bb he was even responsible for one of Frank Sinatra\u2019s greatest successs . . . having written a song called \u201cComme d\u2019habitude<\/em><\/a>\u201d (As usual), the French version of what would become \u201cMy Way\u201d.<\/p>\n

Before we get to the music\u00a0:<\/p>\n

If you want a litte actual sport with your Olympics, Google<\/a> provides a really nice and easy way to keep up with all the goings on . . . including for the French Olympic Team.<\/p>\n

And if you read my post<\/a> last week, you may recall a footnote about why the Olympics includes so much French. Just a few days after that post, I was surprised to see this<\/a>. Though I suppose I shouldn\u2019t be surprised. Of course the country that has a highly-respected institution (l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie fran\u00e7aise<\/a>) dedicated to preserving the French language would also have a group dedicated to maintaining its use at the Olympics.<\/p>\n
