A <strong>coll\u00e8gue<\/strong> (<em>coworker<\/em>) over heard me speaking French with another <em>coll\u00e8gue<\/em> and thought we\u2019d get a kick out of it. It is an informal expression that uses the verb <em>\u2018aller\u2019 <\/em>(to go) that could as easly be translated as \u2018How goes it?\u2019 as a question and \u2018It goes.\u2019 in response. You will also commonly hear \u2018<em>Comment vas?<\/em>\u2019 or <em>&#8216;Comment vas-tu?&#8217;<\/em> (or &#8216;<em>Comment allez-vous?<\/em>&#8216; in the formal or plural form) which means the same thing.<\/p>\n<div class=\"woo-sc-box  normal   \">The verb \u2018aller\u2019 au present tense: <em>je vais, tu vas, il\/elle\/on va, nous allons, vous allez, ils\/elles vont<\/em><\/div>\n<p><em>****** \u2018C\u2019est ici\u2019 <\/em>would be correct . . . unless of course he wanted to say \u2018<em>C\u2019est si . . .\u2019 (<\/em>It is so . . . <em>)<\/em> but even that would be an odd formulation here.<\/p>\n<p>******* <em>\u2018fran\u00e7ais\/e\u2019<\/em> without an aritcle (<em>\u2018le\u2019, &#8216;la&#8217;, &#8216;un&#8217;,<\/em> or<em> \u00a0&#8216;une&#8217;<\/em>) is an adjective, <em>\u2018le francais\u2019<\/em> is the language . . . <em>\u2018Parlez-vous le fran\u00e7ais\u00a0?\u2019<\/em> is the correct construction, but you will also commonly hear\u00a0<em>\u2018Parlez-vous francais\u00a0?\u2019<\/em> (without the <em>\u2018le\u2019<\/em>). <em>Par contre<\/em> (on the other hand), when speaking about learning a language (vs. speaking one), you always use the definite article (\u2018<em>Pierre apprend l\u2019anglais.\u2019 <\/em>\/ Peter is learning English. <em>\u2018J\u2019apprends le russe.\u2019<\/em> \/ I am learning Russian.). And finally, when speaking about the French globally, remember to capitalize it. &#8216;<em>J&#8217;aime les Fran\u00e7ais.&#8217;<\/em> \/ I like the French (people).<\/p>\n<div class=\"woo-sc-box  normal   \">The verb \u2018parler\u2019 au present tense: <em>je parle, tu parles, il\/elle\/on parle, nous parlons, vous parlez, ils\/elles parlent<\/em><\/div>\n<div class=\"woo-sc-box  normal   \">The verb \u2018apprendre\u2019 au present tense: <em>j&#8217;apprends, tu apprends, il\/elle\/on apprend, nous apprenons, vous apprenez, ils\/elles apprennent<\/em><\/div>\n<p>And if you made it this far, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/JnxDN5Bh4rA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this<\/a>!
