In November, I&#8217;ll be delivering an <em>en directe <\/em>(live . . . ish) update on Qu\u00e9bec when we go visit <em>notre oncle et tante (<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/pour-ceux-et-celles-qui-aiment-le-vin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">celle qui aime le vin<\/a>) <\/em>in Qu\u00e9bec. You can get a peak at the new model <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/XI0zAOn9vbE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>. This news makes me doubly happy as the French company that manufactures the new TGVs is also under contract to deliver new high-speed trains and rail to the American Amtrak train service that runs from where I live to New York City and to Wasington, D.C.<em> . . . <\/em>of course, I&#8217;ll have to wait as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/economie-francaise\/article\/2016\/08\/27\/les-tgv-d-alstom-debarquent-aux-etats-unis_4988669_1656968.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the new trains are not scheduled to be in service until 2021<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><em>Et pour finir<\/em> (And to conclude), in the <em>&#8216;il n&#8217;y a qu&#8217;en France&#8217; <\/em>(only in France) department, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelocal.fr\/20160915\/patriotic-french-baby-names-welcome-to-the-latest-row\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this fun little piece<\/a> about a battle over whose names are &#8211; or are not &#8211; French. If you don&#8217;t remember the details, take a look at the final footnote of <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/zazie-bis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">my blog on the singer Zazie<\/a> to see just how particular the French can be about names!<\/p>\n<p>And a bonus: in researching this week&#8217;s blog, I came across this new <em>clip <\/em>(video) by <em>un chanteur fran\u00e7ais <\/em>(a French singer). It seemed appropriate . . . <em>J\u2019esp\u00e8re que vous l&#8217;aimerez** autant que moi. <\/em>(I hope you like it as much as I do.)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Florent Mothe - Quoi de neuf (LIVE)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/z3ey_vBbCHI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>* &#8220;<em>Quoi de neuf?&#8221;<\/em> (literally &#8220;What&#8217;s new?&#8221;) can also be translated as &#8220;What&#8217;s up?&#8221; as in &#8220;<em>Quoi de neuf docteur?&#8221; . . . <\/em>the French title of the 1980&#8217;s American <em>s\u00e9rie t\u00e9l\u00e9vis\u00e9 <\/em>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Quoi_de_neuf_docteur_%3F_(s%C3%A9rie_t%C3%A9l%C3%A9vis%C3%A9e)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Growing Pains<\/a>&#8221; or Bugs Bunny&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/3R_nokkZDF4?t=25s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">famous line<\/a> (What&#8217;s up, doc?)<\/p>\n<p>** This is the verb &#8216;<em>aimer&#8217; <\/em>(to like) in the future tense.
