This week we&#8217;ll complete our shopping trip with a look at the new food labeling coming to France <strong>en avril <\/strong>(<em>in April)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In order to help <strong>les consommateurs<\/strong> (<em>consumers) <\/em>to make better choices <strong>au supermarch\u00e9<\/strong> (<em>at the supermarket<\/em>), <strong>le Minist\u00e8re des Affaires sociales et de la Sant\u00e9<\/strong> (<em>the French health ministry<\/em>) is introducing\u00a0<strong>le Nutri-Score<\/strong>. This new food labeling system, which ranks prepared foods from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/rainbows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vert \u00e0 l&#8217;orange fonc\u00e9 <\/a><\/strong>(<em>green to dark orange), <\/em>is intended to make it <strong>plus facile<\/strong> (<em>easier)<\/em> for shoppers to identify foods that are\u00a0<strong>bon<\/strong> (<em>good)<\/em> from those that are\u00a0<strong>mauvais<\/strong> (<em>bad).<br \/>\n<\/em>The new label is optional (<strong>facultative<\/strong>) so it&#8217;s quite possible that some <strong>producteurs<\/strong> <em>(manufactures, producers)<\/em> may choose not to use it.<\/p>\n<p>You can learn more about <strong>le nouveau logo nutritionnel <\/strong>(<em>the new nutritional logo)<\/em> in the following video. France is made up of 18 administrative regions (13 in European France and 5 &#8216;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/when-is-france-just-ask-dom-and-tom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">territoires d&#8217;outre-mer<\/a>&#8216; \/ &#8216;overseas territories). <\/em>Officially established only in 1982, there were originally 27 territories in total. The 22 metropolitan regions were consolidated to their current 13 effective January 1, 2016. \u00a0 The regions are subdivided into 96 departments.
