Licensed under CC BY 2.0.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/its-prime-time-open-windows-in-french\/\"><strong>Les stores<\/strong> are open<\/a> everywhere to cool things down by letting in <strong>la brise<\/strong> (the breeze). <strong>La climatisation<\/strong> (air conditioning) is rare <strong>en France<\/strong> so you have to make do with <strong>les fen\u00eatres ouvertes et les ventilateurs<\/strong> (open windows and fans). While <strong>la chaleur<\/strong> (the heat) can make it hard to think of anything else, <strong>l&#8217;\u00e9t\u00e9<\/strong> also brings happier summer thoughts of <strong>le soliel<\/strong> (the sun) and <strong>les vacances<\/strong> (vacations).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Personnellement<\/strong> (personnally), growing up <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/chasing-the-sun-lheure-dhiver\/\"><strong>en Floride<\/strong><\/a>, <strong>l&#8217;\u00e9t\u00e9<\/strong> always makes me think of <strong>la saison des ouragans<\/strong> (hurricane season). The change in seasons may be subtle in the sub-tropical state, but the increasing humidity and decreasing tourism are the signs of a Florida summer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>En France<\/strong>,<strong> l&#8217;\u00e9t\u00e9<\/strong> is the height of <strong>la saison touristique<\/strong> (the tourist season). The <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/baby-its-cold-outside-turning-on-the-heat-in-france\/\">colder months of the year<\/a> do not attract as many visitors, but the hot months of <strong>l&#8217;\u00e9t\u00e9<\/strong> bring in <strong>les touristes<\/strong> (tourists) from all over the world to France. It definitely makes it easier to <strong>voyager<\/strong> (travel) when you don&#8217;t have to worry about packing <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/invested-in-vetements-winter-clothing-in-french\/\"><strong>les v\u00eatements d&#8217;hiver<\/strong><\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><strong>La saison touristique en France<\/strong> always makes me smile, because it is the opposite of what I grew up with. <strong>En Floride<\/strong>, the hot summers mark the end of the <strong>la saison touristique<\/strong> and the start of <strong>les orages<\/strong> (thunderstorms). <strong>Chaque apr\u00e8s-midi<\/strong> (every afternoon) the sky turns dark and the sound of thunder fills the humid air.<\/p>\n<p>Remembering <strong>ces orages quotidiens<\/strong> (these daily thunderstorms) doesn&#8217;t just remind me of <strong>la Floride<\/strong>, but also that <strong>la foudre et le tonnerre<\/strong> (lightning and thunder) are somewhat rare <strong>en France<\/strong>. It gets very hot and there is even the occasional <strong>averse de gr\u00eale<\/strong> (hailstorm), but summer thunderstorms are few and far between.<\/p>\n<p>This became apparent when I tried to share <strong>mon exp\u00e9rience estivale<\/strong> (my summer experience) with <strong>mes amis<\/strong> (my friends) in France.
