Licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 2.0.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Being from<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/heat-and-thunderstorms-warm-thoughts-of-lete\/\"> la Floride<\/a>, ma garde-robe<\/strong> (my wardrobe) did not have <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/invested-in-vetements-winter-clothing-in-french\/\"><strong>les v\u00eatements d&#8217;hiver<\/strong><\/a> (the Winter clothes) I needed to survive <strong>l&#8217;hiver<\/strong> when I first came to France. <strong>Heureusement<\/strong> (fortunately), I did have more than enough <strong>v\u00eatements d&#8217;\u00e9t\u00e9<\/strong> once things started to heat up!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cependant<\/strong> (however), I took the opportunity at the start of <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/les-soldes-dete-summer-sales-in-france\/\"><strong>les soldes d&#8217;\u00e9t\u00e9<\/strong><\/a> this year to buy <strong>des nouveaux v\u00eatements<\/strong> (some new clothes), specifically <strong>les v\u00eatements d&#8217;\u00e9t\u00e9<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Une fois<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/going-to-lepicerie-groceries-in-french\/\"><strong>au magasin<\/strong><\/a> (once I was at the store), I suddenly realized I didn&#8217;t know how to talk <strong>les v\u00eatements d&#8217;\u00e9t\u00e9 en fran\u00e7ais<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/21927\/\"> !<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I wanted to buy some new <em>shorts<\/em>, <em>sandals<\/em>, and a <em>tank top<\/em>, but when I tried to <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/finding-les-toilettes-in-french\/\">ask <strong>l&#8217;employ\u00e9<\/strong><\/a> (the employee) where I could find them, I had trouble even describing what I wanted:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Excusez-moi, je cherche des v\u00eatements d&#8217;\u00e9t\u00e9&#8230;\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Oui ? Vous cherchez quoi exactement ?\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Je cherche&#8230; Je suis d\u00e9sol\u00e9, mais je ne connais pas le mot en fran\u00e7ais&#8230; Quelque chose comme le petit pantalon ?\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Alors, on a des pantalons en plusieurs tailles. Vous cherchez quelle taille ?\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Non, ce n&#8217;est pas une taille&#8230;\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Vous cherchez un short, c&#8217;est \u00e7a ?\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Oui, c&#8217;est \u00e7a!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Excuse me, I&#8217;m looking for Summer clothes&#8230;\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Yes? What exactly are you looking for?\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>I&#8217;m looking for&#8230; I&#8217;m sorry, but I don&#8217;t know the word in French&#8230; Something like little pants?\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n<em>So, we have pants in many sizes.
