In our modern age, a new important thing to check apr\u00e8s le d\u00e9m\u00e9nagement<\/strong> (after moving) is la connexion Wi-Fi<\/strong> (the Wi-Fi connection) from votre chambre<\/strong> (your room).<\/p>\n

When I moved into mon nouveau appartement<\/strong> (my new apartment) I quickly noticed a problem with la connexion internet sans fils<\/strong> (the wireless internet connection) better known as le Wi-Fi*<\/strong>. I had un colocataire<\/strong> (a roommate) so the internet was already set up when I moved in, but the signal was incredibly weak in ma chambre<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

*En fran\u00e7ais Wi-Fi<\/em> <\/strong>is commonly pronounced as “weefee”<\/em> (\\wi.fi\\ in IPA) and not “waifai”<\/em> (\\waj.faj\\ in IPA).<\/small><\/p>\n

Once I bought mon nouveau lit<\/strong><\/a> (my new bed) and needed to rearrange ma chambre<\/strong>, the slight change made le signal Wi-Fi trop faible<\/strong> (the Wi-Fi signal too weak).\u00a0Moving mon bureau<\/strong> (my desk) was enough to make it impossible for me to connect to le r\u00e9seau Wi-Fi <\/strong>(the Wi-Fi network)!<\/p>\n

Comment puis-je r\u00e9soudre ce probl\u00e8me ?<\/strong>
\nHow can I solve this problem?\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There’s an unfortunate manque de prises<\/a><\/strong> (lack of outlets) between the le salon<\/strong> (the living room) where la box Wi-Fi<\/strong> (the Wi-Fi router) is and ma chambre<\/strong>, and mon colocataire<\/strong> would be against running new wires through l’apartement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I knew that there was un appareil<\/strong> (a device) that could booster le signal<\/strong> (boost the signal), mais <\/strong>(but) I wasn’t sure what it was called.<\/p>\n

Une fois au magasin<\/a><\/strong> (once I was at the store), I started looking at the electronics section and hoped I could find what I needed, mais<\/strong> after a few minutes without finding l’appareil<\/strong><\/span>, I decided to ask for some help:<\/p>\n

Excusez-moi, je cherche quelque chose qui peut booster un signal Wi-Fi.<\/strong>
\n Vous cherchez une box Wi-Fi?<\/strong>
\n Non, j’en ai une d\u00e9j\u00e0, mais le signal Wi-Fi est trop faible dans ma chambre. Je crois qu’il y a un truc qui peut amplifier* le signal dans ma chambre.<\/strong>
\n Ah oui, vous cherchez un r\u00e9p\u00e9teur alors. Suivez moi, s’il vous pla\u00eet.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Excuse me, I’m looking for something to boost a Wi-Fi signal.<\/em>
\n You’re looking for a Wi-Fi router?<\/em>
\n Non, I already have one, but the Wi-Fi signal is too weak in my room. I believe there’s a thing that can amplify* the signal in my room.<\/em>

*I wasn’t sure if booster<\/strong> <\/em>was a real French word<\/a> so I decided to use a different one in order to make sure l’employ\u00e9<\/strong> (the employee) understood what I said.<\/small><\/p>\n

I made sure to thank l’employ\u00e9<\/strong> and took some time to look at all the options before buying un r\u00e9p\u00e9teur<\/strong>. Luckily it was pretty easy to set up and once le r\u00e9p\u00e9teur<\/strong> was installed I had no more issues with l’internet<\/a> dans ma chambre<\/strong>!<\/p>\n
