Both his parents are American, but <strong>sa famille<\/strong> (his family) moved to Europe after <strong>son p\u00e8re<\/strong> (his father) was blacklisted from Hollywood for being a member of <strong>le Parti communiste am\u00e9ricain<\/strong> (the American Communist Party). He spent the later half of his childhood moving around Europe, studying in many countries around the continent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Il a pass\u00e9 <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/22614-2\/\">son bac<\/a> \u00e0 Grenoble en Suisse<\/strong> (he graduated high school in Grenoble in Switzerland; literally <em>he passed his baccalaureate &#8211; <\/em>final high school exam) and then attended university <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/which-stateprovince-are-you-from-expression-location-in-french\/\">aux<\/a> \u00c9tats-Unis<\/strong> (in the United States). He completed his Bachelor&#8217;s and Master&#8217;s <strong>en anthropologie<\/strong> (in anthropology) at <strong>l&#8217;Universit\u00e9 du Michigan<\/strong> (the University of Michigan) before deciding to move back to France.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Une fois en France<\/strong> (once in France) he began working for<strong> son p\u00e8re<\/strong> helping out in his films before starting his music career. Today <strong>il est connu comme le loup blanc<\/strong> (he is a household name; literally <em>he is known as the white wolf<\/em>) with his many memorable songs spanning over his long career.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sa chanson la plus connue<\/strong> (his most well known song) is of course <em><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/joe-dassin-les-champs-elysees\/\">Les Champs-\u00c9lys\u00e9e<\/a><\/em> and once I realized that, I was surprised to learn that such a famous French song was sung by <strong>un am\u00e9ricain<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>After learning more about <strong>le chanteur am\u00e9ricain<\/strong> (the American singer) I had to look up <strong>la chanson<\/strong> (the song) from <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/un-ete-indien-surprising-autumn-weather-in-france\/\"><strong>la semaine derni\u00e8re<\/strong><\/a> and hear what <em><strong>L&#8217;\u00e9t\u00e9 indien<\/strong><\/em> sounded like.
