It came out of the late night dance party scenes of Guadeloupe and Martinique.<br \/>\n** Check out <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/the-french-imperative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this earlier post<\/a> from fellow blogger Elizabeth S. for a review of the French imperative.<br \/>\n*** This is a fun play on words. The French term <em>pr\u00eate \u00e0 porter <\/em>means <em>ready to wear <\/em>(as opposed to <em>couture<\/em> \/ <em>custom <\/em><em>fashions). <\/em>The verb <em>pr\u00eater<\/em> means <em>to loan<\/em>. [Note: The French verb <em>to borrow<\/em> is <em>emprunter.<\/em>]<br \/>\n**** Watch out for this one.
