In researching her life and work, I came across this cute song that I wanted to share with you this week. You see it in <em>Sacr\u00e9bleu<\/em> (<em>Holy smokes)<\/em> or you might say of a friend \u201c<em>Sacr\u00e9 Paul, il est toujours en retard.\u201d (Oh that Paul, he\u2019s always late.)<br \/>\n** <\/em>As we\u2019ve discussed <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/ecole_le_samedi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">before<\/a>, many French kids have school on Saturday, with a day (or at least a half day) off during the week (and of course Sundays, too). For many years now that day off has been Wednesday, but once upon a time <em>jeudi (Thursday)<\/em> was the week day French <em>\u00e9l\u00e8ves<\/em> <em>(students) <\/em>had free.<\/p>\n<div class=\"woo-sc-box  normal   \"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29722 size-thumbnail alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/02\/charlemagne-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><strong>Le vrai <em>histore<\/em><\/strong><em>\/The real story:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Charlemagne, who lived from 742 &#8211; 814 was king of the Franks and Holy Roman Emperor ruling over what is now France as well as much of western Europe.
