It\u2019s been almost a year since we last went to the store<\/a>. Well Monoprix is back with another too-cute pub<\/strong> (short for pulicit\u00e9 \/ commercial<\/em>) that we\u2019ll look at this week.<\/p>\n

Olympic update<\/strong><\/p>\n

But first, a look back at another topic we covered more recently, les JO<\/strong>. The 2018 Jeux olympique <\/strong><\/a>came to a close Sunday and les Bleus* (l\u2019\u00e9quipe fran\u00e7aise) <\/strong>(The Blues \/ the French team<\/em>) won 15 m\u00e9dailles<\/strong> (medals)<\/em> in events including biathlon, ski nordique, patinage artistique, ski acrobatique, ski alpin, et snowboard. <\/strong>French athletes brought home 5 m\u00e9dailles d\u2019or<\/strong> (gold), <\/em>4 m\u00e9dailles d\u2019argent<\/strong> (silver),<\/em> and 6 m\u00e9dailles de bronze<\/strong> (bronze)<\/em>.<\/p>\n

^ Let\u2019s break down the puns and word play: un datte<\/em> in French is the fruit, this is a play on the English word date<\/em> (which is both the fruit and a social event!); filer<\/em> in French colloquially means to scoot<\/em>, to flee \u2013 un filet<\/em> is a cut of meat (in this case, fish); crackers<\/em> is a play on the French craquer<\/em> which means to crack, to crunch<\/em> but also crack for, adore; un verre<\/a><\/em> would be a glass \u2013 un petit vert<\/em> here refers to peas (les petits pois);<\/em> un coup de foudre<\/em> is a lighting strke<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Lost in Paris<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you liked the story of Alice and Cesar, I recommend you check out a little independent film from Belgium called Lost in Paris<\/a> (click to see the bande annonce<\/strong> \/ trailer).<\/em> It\u2019s almost impossible to describe, other than to say its quirky and very French. I discovered it compl\u00e8tement par hasard<\/strong> (completely by accident<\/em>) au biblioth\u00e8que<\/strong> (at the library)<\/em> last week and was really charmed by it.<\/p>\n
