(Who knows why!)<\/em> According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guichetdusavoir.org\/viewtopic.php?f=2&amp;t=54992\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this blog<\/a>, it might come from a simple inversion \/ extension of the way French structures noun\/adjective pairs (remember, the adjective generally comes <em>after <\/em>the noun it modifies as described in <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/les-petites-noires-chaussures-ou-les-petites-chaussures-noires-adjective-placement-in-french\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this post<\/a>) but nothing is sure. Compare the following examples in French to their English:<br \/>\n<em>un cheval de course (<\/em>lit.\u00a0<em>a horse of race) = a race horse<br \/>\n<\/em><em>un course de cheval (<\/em>lit.<em> a race of horse) = a horse race<br \/>\n<\/em>** &#8216;<em>kiffe&#8217;\u00a0<\/em>(from the verb &#8216;<em>kiffer&#8217;; <\/em>slang imported from Arabic) means\u00a0<em>&#8216;something you love&#8217;, &#8216;to like, to love&#8217;.<br \/>\n***\u00a0<\/em>What&#8217;s happening here? <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/his-or-her-cup-confusing-possessive-adjectives-in-french\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to John<\/a>, possessive adjectives are supposed to help us understand the\u00a0<em>genre<\/em> of nouns in French. But if\u00a0<em>humeur<\/em> were masculine (as the\u00a0<em>son<\/em> would seem to indicate), then we would say &#8220;<em>son humeur est joyeux<\/em>&#8220;. The use of &#8216;<em>joyeuse&#8217;\u00a0<\/em> though tells us that &#8216;<em>humeur&#8217;<\/em> is actually feminine. While you normally would find\u00a0<em>sa<\/em> before a feminine noun, when that noun starts with a vowel or a silent\u00a0<em>h<\/em>, as <em>humeur<\/em> does,\u00a0then you need to use\u00a0<em>son (<\/em>or\u00a0<em>mon\/ton<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pour en apprendre plus<\/strong> (<em>to learn more about it<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>One fun thing that attracted me to this album and these songs is that they produced a series of short videos featuring real people.
