The huge tables of <strong>conjugaisons<\/strong> are intimidating even before seeing all the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/irregular-and-stem-changing-verbs-in-the-subjunctive\/\">irregular verbs<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/an-introduction-to-the-subjunctive\/\"><strong>le subjontif<\/strong><\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>One conjugation that really confused me at first was how to say conditional phrases that start with <em><strong>si<\/strong> (if)<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Si j\u2019\u00e9tudiais le fran\u00e7ais tous les jours, je ma\u00eetriserais la langue !<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>If I studied French every day, I would master the language!<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I had a lot of trouble accepting that <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/french-grammar-past-imperfect\/\"><strong>l&#8217;imparfait<\/strong><\/a> is used for verbs after <strong><em>si<\/em> <\/strong>and often made the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/more-mistakes-thinking-in-english\/\">mistake<\/a> of saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Si j&#8217;<strong>\u00e9tudierais<\/strong> le fran\u00e7ais tous les jours, je ma\u00eetriserais la langue !<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Heursement<\/strong> (luckily), I stumbled across a fun song by <em><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/french-weird-al-oldelaf-et-monsieur-d\/\">Oldelaf et Monsieur D<\/a><\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Et si on chantait<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>And if we sang<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The phrase <em><strong>si on chantait (if we sang)<\/strong> <\/em>is used many times throughout the entire song, making it impossible to forget how to <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/spoken-french-what-conjugations\/\">correctly conjugate<\/a> the verb. It also teaches a lot about saying <em><strong>comment<\/strong> (how)<\/em> you do something.
