Summer has arrived and for most kids getting up early, getting ready for school, and homework are all in the past (for now at least until that oh-so-distant mythical future that is la rentr\u00e9e<\/a> de\u00a0<\/strong>septembre<\/strong> \/\u00a0September’s return to school!)\u00a0<\/em>As a result, this week’s song might seem a bit better suited to the fall, but I’ve recently discovered a great new internet radio option (more below) and this song caught my attention for it’s great “day in the life” vocabulary, the way it captures spoken French, and the cool retro vibe!<\/p>\n

It also seemed too good to pass up after John’s post last week<\/a>.\u00a0J’esp\u00e8re que vous l’appr\u00e9cierez autant que moi!<\/strong> (I hope you enjoy it as much as me!<\/em>)<\/p>\n

Radio Nostalgie<\/a> is a Belgian internet radio station that, like Ch\u00e9rie FM which I’ve introduced before<\/a>, features all French songs all the time, but features older classics that aren’t on the radio much these days.\u00a0 <\/div>\n

As you listen to the song,\u00a0notice the use of informal language (Faut s’r\u00e9veiller<\/em> instead of Il faut se r\u00e9veiller<\/em>,\u00a0ouais<\/em> instead of\u00a0oui<\/em>, Z’avez pas vu<\/em> instead of\u00a0Vous n’avez pas vu, roupillent (<\/em>from the verb\u00a0roupiller)\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0dodo\u00a0<\/em>instead of\u00a0dormir)\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0the frequent dropping of\u00a0e<\/em>‘s between or in words (j’sais<\/em> instead of je sais<\/em>, j’trouve<\/em> instead of je trouve<\/em>, and d’voir<\/em> instead of devoir<\/em>).\u00a0<\/em>These colloquialisms can be difficult to master, but are often some of the more fun elements of learning French (or any foreign language).<\/p>\n
