The Paris-Marseille rivalry is even being eased while everything cheers:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/bleu-blanc-rouge-lets-go-france\/\"><strong>Allez les Bleus* !<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n<em>Let&#8217;s go France!<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><small><em>*<strong>En fran\u00e7ais<\/strong> the French national team is called <strong>les Bleus<\/strong> (the blues), referencing the color of their uniform.<\/em><\/small><\/p>\n<p>The wave of enthusiasm has <strong>les Fran\u00e7ais<\/strong> fully embracing their national slogan, especially the third part:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Libert\u00e9, \u00c9galit\u00e9, <em>Fratinernit\u00e9<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>La d\u00e9vise<\/strong> (the slogan) is easy for <strong>un <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/show-me-la-monnaie-the-paris-mint\/\">anglophone<\/a><\/strong> (an English speaker) to understand. All three words have English equivalents, even if fraternity has another meaning. <strong>La fraternit\u00e9<\/strong> in <strong>la devise fran\u00e7aise<\/strong> refers to the idea that is more commonly called <em>brotherhood<\/em>, while the English <em>fraternity<\/em> may make some people think of college associations.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a perfect storm of <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/la-banniere-etoilee-celebrating-the-fourth-of-july-in-french\/\"><strong>le patriotisme<\/strong><\/a> (patriotism) running through the country with World Cup fever reaching a high point just as <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/the-14th-of-july-french-fireworks\/\"><strong>le 14 juillet<\/strong><\/a> (July 14th, French National Day, Bastille Day) rounds the corner! Adding to that, all the emotions are thoroughly heightened by the sense of <strong>la nostalgie<\/strong> (nostagia) that the 2018 World Cup is also giving <strong>la France<\/strong>. <strong>La fraternit\u00e9<\/strong> is truly being shown by <strong>les Fran\u00e7ais<\/strong> all over the world as <strong>les Bleus<\/strong> inch closer to a historical victory.<\/p>\n<p>The last time <strong>La France a gagn\u00e9 la Coupe du monde<\/strong> (France won the World Cup) was in 1998. Winning it again 20 years later has everyone on edge, hoping to finally bring it back home. After <strong>la France<\/strong> solidified its place in the finals, the whole country erupted in a chorus of:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>On est en finale ! On est en finale ! On est finale !<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>We are in the finals! We are in the finals! We are in the finals!<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There&#8217;s something smaller also contributing to the atmosphere of <strong>la finale<\/strong>.
