For French learners<\/a>, the catchier la chanson<\/strong> (the song) the better! Le but<\/strong><\/a> (the goal) is to sing la chanson<\/strong> for fun and forget it’s actually studying!<\/p>\n

I’ve mentioned it a few times already, but la musique pop fran\u00e7aise<\/strong> (French pop music) is great for finding catching melodies and simple lyrics<\/a>. Before la chanson<\/strong> ends you’ll be singing les paroles<\/strong> (the lyrics) or at least humming la m\u00e9lodie<\/strong> as you try to remember the words. Even if you are not a fan of poppy music, you can’t help but smile and want to sing after hearing MIKA<\/a><\/em> or YELLE<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Dans la m\u00eame veine<\/strong> (in the same vein), la musicienne<\/a><\/strong> Joyce Jonathan<\/em> is a French pop sensation with many fun and easy to understand chansons<\/strong>. Her career started in the late 2000s when she posted a few of her original songs on le r\u00e9seau social<\/strong> (the social network), MySpace<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0<\/strong> (thanks to) being posted on le r\u00e9seau social<\/strong>, ses<\/a> chansons<\/strong> began to spread around the internet, which led to her being signed to a major label and becoming a breakout star in the French music scene. One of her songs, L’heure avait sonn\u00e9<\/strong> (the hour had struck)<\/em>, was even featured on the popular television show, Gossip Girl<\/em>!<\/p>\n

Joyce Jonathan<\/em> has produced many successful albums filled with amazing chansons<\/strong> since that first post on her MySpace<\/em>. Ma chanson pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9e<\/strong> (my favorite song) is featured on her second album, Caract\u00e8re<\/strong><\/em>, and was un tube<\/strong><\/a> (a hit) soon after its release as a single:<\/p>\n

The song is a playful take on l’amour adolescent<\/strong> (puppy love, young love) and all the thoughts that fill young hearts when they first tombent amoureux<\/strong> (fall in love). La chanson<\/strong> is also hiding a fun little easter egg <\/strong><\/em>for anyone who loves French literature:<\/p>\n

Le vers<\/strong> (the verse) is a reference to La Beaut\u00e9<\/strong> (the beauty)<\/em>, a poem by Chalres Baudelaire<\/em> from his collection, Les Fleurs du mal<\/strong> (The Flowers of Evil)<\/em>.<\/p>\n
