Sadly, while the <strong>ampleur<\/strong> (<em>scale\/volume\/size)<\/em> of the <strong>manifestations <\/strong>has gone down since then, they have become more violent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Les derni\u00e8res infos <\/strong>\/ <em>The lastest updates<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Since their peak in December, the weekly protests by <strong>les gilets jaunes <\/strong>have dwindled in size, but not in impact. In order to get to the root causes, Emmanuel Macron, <strong>le pr\u00e9sident de la R\u00e9publique <\/strong>(<em>the French president)<\/em> has proposed a <strong>grand d\u00e9bat national<\/strong> (<em>a great national debate)<\/em> on <strong>l\u2019\u00e9cologie, la fiscalit\u00e9, la d\u00e9mocratie, et l\u2019organisation de l\u2019Etat<\/strong> (<em>the environment, the economy, democracy, and the structure of the country<\/em>) but <strong>le fran\u00e7ais moyen<\/strong> (<em>the average Fench-person)<\/em> has more immediate concerns on their mind.
