As noted, l\u00e0<\/strong> can mean either here<\/em> or there<\/em>. It is actually used for here<\/em> even more commonly than ici<\/strong> which is reserved, generally, for locations very close to the speaker and that can be shown. The expression l\u00e0-bas <\/strong>on the other hand, is used for indicating things that are further away or to show direction.<\/p>\n
