With l’incendie<\/strong><\/a> (the fire) earlier this week in Paris, it’s not just les Fran\u00e7ais<\/strong> (French people) who are mourning, it’s the whole world. When one of humanity’s greatest structures is hit by tragedy, it’s impossible not to feel affected, no matter where you are from.<\/p>\n

Great monuments suffering such a loss feels like something that only happens in history. Walking into Notre de Dame de Paris<\/strong><\/em>, there are plaques marking great catastrophes of the past, but they always seemed so far away and like relics of a time long lost to the annals of time<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Seeing Notre-Dame<\/strong> <\/em>in flames was not just a moment of sadness, it was a reminder that our greatest achievements on Earth<\/a> may one day fall to an unavoidable act of nature.<\/p>\n

Cependant<\/strong> (however), like a phoenix<\/a> rising from its ashes, la France<\/strong> already plans on restoring Notre-Dame<\/strong> <\/em>and igniting the passionate flame that led to its creation in the first place.<\/p>\n

Cet espoir<\/strong> (that hope) that comes with the act of rebuilding Notre-Dame<\/strong> <\/em>is cause for joy in all of us. It also provides a better context<\/a> to appreciate la cath\u00e9drale<\/strong> and all the history that Our Lady<\/em> has witnessed.<\/p>\n

It’s with that in mind, that I want to share a great song that comes from la com\u00e9die musicale<\/strong> (the musical) adapted from the great piece of literature from Victor Hugo, Notre-Dame de Paris<\/strong><\/em> (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)<\/em>.<\/p>\n

For some people the story may be best known for its Disney adaptation<\/a>, but no matter where the story comes from, the setting in Paris and what it means to l’histoire fran\u00e7aise<\/strong><\/a> (French history) remains the same.<\/p>\n
