My love of the great songs from Disney<\/a> only helps making learning French easier. With the recent release of Aladdin, I had a whole new world of excuses to sing loudly in French!<\/p>\n

Le saviez-vous<\/strong> (fun fact, litterally: did you know?<\/em>) ?<\/strong> the first movie I ever saw au cin\u00e9ma<\/strong> (at the movie theater) is Aladdin<\/em>. Everything about the le filme<\/strong> (the movie) holds a special place in heart, especially les chansons<\/strong> (the songs).<\/p>\n

From le G\u00e9nie<\/strong> (Genie) singing Je suis ton meilleur ami<\/em><\/strong> (Friend Like Me) <\/em>to the unforgettable Prince Ali<\/strong><\/em>, it’s nothing but cheerful childhood and nostalgia for me. What’s great about loving these simple songs is that Disney<\/a> puts a lot of effort into making sure les traductions<\/strong> (the translations) are not only correct, but also sound smooth and poetic in the new language.<\/p>\n

To celebrate the recent remake, I couldn’t think of anything better than to share Ce r\u00eave bleu<\/strong> (A Whole New World, litterally: This Blue Dream).<\/em><\/p>\n

Like with the amazing song from Vaiana<\/strong> (Moana)<\/em>, How Far I’ll Go<\/em><\/a> the song is slightly different from how you remember it. Cependant<\/strong> (however), all the changes make it sound just a little better en fran\u00e7ais<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Be sure to notice how le bleu<\/strong> (the blue)<\/em> is used in Ce r\u00eave bleu<\/strong> <\/em>to evoke a positive emotion like in Le bleu lumi\u00e8re<\/em><\/strong> <\/a>(The Serenity-Blue)<\/em>, which may be surprising for les anglophones<\/strong> (English speakers).<\/p>\n

Another interesting note, au Qu\u00e9bec<\/strong> the song has a different and more familiar name: Un nouveau monde<\/strong> (A New World).<\/em><\/p>\n
