Licensed under CC0.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The new versions of Disney classics making their way to <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/a-whole-new-blue-world-aladdin-in-french\/\"><strong>le cin\u00e9ma<\/strong><\/a> (the movie theater) means more than a trip down memory lane for anyone learning <strong>le fran\u00e7ais<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>With all these movies having a new chance to shine, all the catchy songs are also back on everyone&#8217;s minds!<\/p>\n<p>What that means for everyone learning French is best explained with <strong>les paroles<\/strong> (lyrics):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Ces mots signifient<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Que tu vivras ta vie, sans aucun souci<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>These words mean<\/em><br \/>\n<em>That you will live your life, without any worry<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If <strong>les paroles<\/strong> look a little off, it&#8217;s because the famous lines from <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/french-hard-hakuna-matata-learn-french-through-disney-songs\/\"><em>Hakuna Matata<\/em><\/a> are slightly different <strong>en fran\u00e7ais<\/strong>. To help show just how slight these differences are, take a look at <strong>la version anglaise<\/strong> (the English version):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>It means no worries<\/em><br \/>\n<em>For the rest of your days<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Disney always takes <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/welcoming-halloween-in-french-mister-jacks-strange-christmas\/\">special care<\/a> to not only translate their famous <strong>chansons<\/strong> (songs), but also to make sure they&#8217;re fully adapted to <strong>la langue et la culture<\/strong> (the language and the culture).<\/p>\n<p>A great example I&#8217;ve mentioned before is <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/singing-happy-blue-songs-moana-in-french\/\"><em><strong>Le bleu lumi\u00e8re<\/strong> <\/em>from <\/a><em><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/singing-happy-blue-songs-moana-in-french\/\"><strong>Vaiana<\/strong><\/a> (Moana)<\/em>. It&#8217;s tempting to say la chanson should be <em>the blue light<\/em> in English, but the realty is <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/lost-in-the-deep-blue-french-translating-le-bleu-lumiere\/\">a bit more complicated<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"37WKglL7Ku\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/lost-in-the-deep-blue-french-translating-le-bleu-lumiere\/\">Lost In The Deep Blue French &#8211; Translating Le Bleu Lumi\u00e8re<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Lost In The Deep Blue French &#8211; Translating Le Bleu Lumi\u00e8re&#8221; &#8212; French Language Blog\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/lost-in-the-deep-blue-french-translating-le-bleu-lumiere\/embed\/#?secret=5F5ZAInx1K#?secret=37WKglL7Ku\" data-secret=\"37WKglL7Ku\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It may be hard to learn why simple things like <strong>le bleu<\/strong> (the color blue) can mean such different things, but don&#8217;t ever let that discourage you!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/the-fortunate-word-i-never-remember-how-to-spell-in-french\/\"><strong>Heureusement<\/strong><\/a> (luckily), fun songs like <strong><em>Hakuna Matana<\/em> <\/strong>and <strong><em>Le bleu lumi\u00e8re<\/em> <\/strong>are great resources for gaining a deeper understanding of these subtle aspects of French culture.<\/p>\n<p>With <em><strong>Le Roi lion<\/strong> (The Lion King) <\/em>back in theaters, I wanted to take the time to look at one of my personal favorite songs from <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/back-to-le-futur-in-version-francaise\/\"><strong>le filme<\/strong><\/a> (the movie).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Et non, ce n&#8217;est pas <em>Hakuna Matata<\/em>.<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>And no, it&#8217;s not Hakuna Matata.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>La chanson dont je parle<\/strong> (the song I&#8217;m talking about) is most iconic for its opening lines <strong>en zoulou<\/strong> (in Zulu):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba<br \/>\n<strong>Un lion arrive, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/dont-forget-la-fete-des-peres\/\">P\u00e8re<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Here comes a lion, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/hi-hungry-im-dad-la-fete-des-peres-in-french\/\">Father<\/a><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>No matter the version, that loud chant brings up memories of the first scenes of <strong>Le Roi lion<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Circle of Life &#8211; <\/em><strong>L&#8217;Histoire de la Vie<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We can see one of those slight cultural changes right in the title of the song.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>L&#8217;Histoire de la vie<\/strong><\/em> translates directly to <em>The story of life<\/em>.
