I often return to my favorites to keep up my skills. Some &#8211; like Victor Hugo&#8217;s <em>Notre-Dame de Paris<\/em> (which incidentally <a href=\"http:\/\/bookhaven.stanford.edu\/2019\/04\/how-victor-hugo-saved-notre-dame-a-thought-written-in-stone-it-is-the-freedom-of-architecture-plus-a-few-words-from-a-medievalist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">helped to save the magnificent cathedral<\/a> the last time it was in need) or <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/all-for-one-and-one-for-al-exandre-dumas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alexandre Dumas<\/a>&#8216;s <em>Les Trois Mousquetaires<\/em> &#8211; are quite long and take real commitment. Others &#8211; like Alexandre Dumas fils&#8217;s <em>La Dame aux Cam\u00e9lias<\/em> &#8211; are quick, compelling reads that you can enjoy in less time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>La Dame aux Cam\u00e9lias<\/strong> \/ <em>The Lady of the Camellias<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Written in the middle of the 19th century, <em>La Dame aux Cam\u00e9lias<\/em> tells the tragic story of Marguerite Gautier, a French <strong>courtisane<\/strong> (<em>courtesan, prostitute<\/em>) and her lover, Armand Duval.
