We had Groundhog Day<\/a> here in the US recently. The Groundhog Day tradition veut<\/strong> (is supposed to mean<\/em>1<\/a><\/sup>This is an idiomatic use of the verb vouloir\/to want that implies somebody wants something to be \/ to be true, even though maybe it really isn\u2019t!<\/span>) that the arrival of spring will \u2013 or will not be \u2013 early depending on whether la marmotte<\/strong> (the groundhog)<\/em> sees its ombre<\/strong> (shadow<\/em>) or not2<\/a><\/sup>There was no shadow this year, which means we should have an early spring<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Regardless of what the groundhog said, we are still in the heart of l\u2019hiver<\/strong> (winter)<\/em> here in the northeastern United States.<\/p>\n
