As many French people head into a fifth week of confinement, only able to leave home for necessities<\/a> dans le cadre de la lutte contre la propagation du virus Covid-19<\/strong> (as part of efforts to battle the spread of Covid-19<\/em>), how are they feeling. For many, the challenging times are taking a toll. Fortunately, the human spirit is strong!<\/p>\n

La tension monte …\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Being forced to stay home is stressful enough by oneself. When families are forced to occupy the same space for prolonged periods, tensions can rise<\/em> for even the most loving familles<\/strong> (families<\/em>). A recent study<\/a> from the team at IFOP<\/a> highlights a few of the major causes of this added stress.<\/p>\n

Selon l’enqu\u00eate aupr\u00e8s de 3 000\u00a0Fran\u00e7ais<\/b>\u00a0(according to the research study of 3,000 French<\/em>):<\/p>\n

– “Les t\u00e2ches m\u00e9nag\u00e8res sont une source de conflit plus fr\u00e9quentes en milieu confin\u00e9 qu’en temps normal”<\/strong> (Household chores are a more frequent source of conflict for those in confinement than in normal times),
\n–\u00a0<\/em>For those with kids at home,\u00a0l’accompagnement scolaire des enfants est aussi une source majeure de tensions au sein des couples\u00a0<\/strong>(helping with the kids’ studies is also a major source of stress for couples),
\n–\u00a0<\/em>And in this time of confinement, couples are more likely to argue about\u00a0la gestion des d\u00e9placements hors du domicile, des activit\u00e9s de loisirs faites ensemble, et la nourriture\/le menu des repas<\/b> (managing trips outside the home, group activities\/leisure activities to do together, and food\/the menu for meals).<\/em><\/p>\n

Mais la vie continue!<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is so important to remember at this challenging time that life goes on<\/em>! This video from France 2<\/a> features Arnaud – un p\u00e8re de famille<\/strong> (a family father<\/em>)\u00a0qui s’est donn\u00e9 un d\u00e9fi pendant le confinement: une photo de famille (ludique) tous les deux jours<\/b> (challenged himself, and his family, to make a fun picture every two days<\/em>) –\u00a0\u00a0nouvelle maman<\/strong> (new mother<\/em>) Julie, 20-year old Paul\u00a0confine chez ses parents<\/strong> (confined at his parent’s house<\/em>), and a second Julie, this one who has already had and recovered from Covid-19 … tous en qu\u00eate de sens \u00e0 ce confinement<\/strong> (all looking for some sense to this confinement).<\/em><\/p>\n

P\u00e2ques<\/strong><\/p>\n

This past weekend, for many around the world, was Easter<\/a> … <\/em>a perfect reminder, indeed, tht life goes on. Many churches remained closed and services of many kinds were improvised and transmitted around the world online. Despite the quarantine – and the on-going repair work –\u00a0l’Archev\u00eaque de Paris a souhait\u00e9\u00a0se recueillir devant la pr\u00e9cieuse couronne d’\u00e9pines\u00a0sauv\u00e9e de l’incendie<\/b><\/a> (the Archbishop of Paris wished to gather before the precious crown of thorns saved from the fire<\/a>.) <\/em>Originally housed in the Sainte-Chapelle<\/a> which Louis XI built for the purpose, the crown had been kept at Notre-Dame since the early 1800’s.<\/p>\n
