Happy Bastille Day! Or as they say in France Joyeux quatorze juillet. This year because of Covid-19 the annual celebrations of the birth of the French republic will look a little different, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t celebrate.<\/p>\n

Un d\u00e9fil\u00e9, des bals, et des feux d’artifices<\/strong><\/p>\n

A typical\u00a0quatorze juillet<\/strong> (July 14th<\/em>) in France would involve\u00a0un d\u00e9fil\u00e9<\/strong>\u00a0(a parade<\/em>) on the Champs-Elys\u00e9es,\u00a0des bals<\/strong>\u00a0populaires<\/b>\u00a0 (local dances<\/em>), and\u00a0des feux d’artifices<\/strong> (fireworks<\/em>).<\/p>\n

This year\u00a0il n’y aura pas de d\u00e9fil\u00e9s sur les Champs<\/strong> (there won’t be any parade on the Champs-Elys\u00e9es<\/em>) and many towns have cancelled their\u00a0bals et les feux d’artifices<\/strong>, but the song below, from Calogero, celebrates fireworks … and our shared humanity.<\/p>\n
