If you’re like me, you probably have at least a little Covid fatigue1<\/a><\/sup>fatigue<\/em> … which comes to use from the French word fatiguer<\/em> \/ to tire, make weary<\/em><\/span>. I was hoping to move on this week and turn back to non-Covid issues, but as France continues to deal with the pandemic, it felt import to spend one more week on the latest updates. Expanding the curfew<\/strong><\/p>\n

As I reported last week<\/a>, France initiated a curfew in an effort to slow the spread of Covid-19. After just a few days \u2026 and plus de un million de cas de Covid-19 depuis le d\u00e9but de la\u00a0pand\u00e9mie<\/b>\u00a0(more than a million cases of Covid since the beginning of the pandemic) \u2026<\/em> \u00a0that couvre-feu<\/strong> has been extended to 54 departments<\/a> and over 46 million people. \u201cPlus de deux Fran\u00e7ais sur trois sont d\u00e9sormais somm\u00e9s de rester chez eux le soir.<\/a>\u00a0\u00bb <\/b>(more than 2 out of 3 French are now called to stay home at night.)<\/em><\/p>\n

Comme on voit dans cette vid\u00e9o<\/a>, les Fran\u00e7ais expatri\u00e9s sont touch\u00e9s eux aussi. Que ce soit Elsa, guide touristique au Br\u00e9sil qui manque de clients ; Pascaline en Inde qui a du mal \u00e0 maintenir l\u2019activit\u00e9 de son restaurant ; ou Manu\u00e9line \u00e0 Sydney en Australie qui se sent isol\u00e9e de sa famille et ses amis en France apr\u00e8s deux ans ; la Covid a chang\u00e9 bien des vies. Il n\u2019y a que Gr\u00e9goire, au Taiwan, pour qui la vie est rest\u00e9 plus ou moins normal suite \u00e0 la fermeture totale des fronti\u00e8res qui a permis \u00e0 l\u2019\u00eele de rester \u00e0 l\u2019abri de la virus. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

As you can see from this video, French expats<\/a> are impacted too. Whether Elsa, tour guide in Brazil\u00a0with no clients; Pascaline in India who is struggling to keep her restaurant going; or Manueline in Sydney Australia who feels isolated after two years without her family and friends in France; Covid has change many lives. Only for Gregoire, in Taiwan, has life remained mostly the same following a total shutdown of the borders which allowed the island to keep the virus away.]<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Despite these renewed efforts it now looks like France may be headed for a second\u00a0<\/a>confinement<\/a>.<\/strong> Armed with greater knowledge, scientists are proposing new options though to avoid a full shutdown like the spring. They envisage everything from:<\/p>\n
