Apartment hunting in France<\/h3>\n

In a past blog<\/a> I talked about my desire to move to France when this period of confinement<\/em> is over. Now that the borders are opening up on June 9th<\/a>, there is nothing else holding me back… well, except for figuring out where I will be living of course. So every night I have been apartment hunting online, and I thought I’d share some typical apartment ads I have seen:<\/p>\n

The numbering of the floors confuses Americans in France. Since their first floor is considered le rez-de-chauss\u00e9e\u00a0<\/em>or ground floor, then the next floor, what we would consider the second floor, is le<\/em> 1er \u00e9tage\u00a0<\/em>(1st floor) and so on.<\/p>\n

\u26a0Les m\u00e8tres carr\u00e9s20<\/a><\/sup>square meters<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

To convert from\u00a0square meter<\/b>\u00a0to\u00a0square feet<\/b>, multiply the number by 10.8. For example, the first apartment above is 10 square meters, which is 108 square feet. Yes, that is a typical studette<\/em> in Paris. (No, I do not want to live there, it is best for students!)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
