Christmas has come and gone and the new year is at hand. Sadly this December 31st\u2019s festivities in Paris will be muted again \u00e0 cause de Covid<\/strong>1<\/a><\/sup>because of Covid<\/em><\/span>. \u201cIl y aura une interdiction des rassemblements festifs ainsi qu’une interdiction des concerts et feux d’artifice [\u2026 et] la vente et la consommation d’alcool sera aussi prohib\u00e9e.<\/strong><\/a>\u201d2<\/a><\/sup>All festive gatherings will be banned as well as a ban on concerts and fireworks [.. and] sales and consumption of alcohol will also be prohibited.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The Final Countdown<\/h3>\n

Since we won\u2019t be able to gather to count down the new year, let\u2019s take a look back at some highlights from the past year by reviewing the top 10 posts from the Transparent Language French Blog in 2021.<\/p>\n

But first \u2026 a little humour! I recently heard this cute blague<\/strong>3<\/a><\/sup>joke<\/em><\/span>: Why do they only eat one egg for breakfast in France? The top post from 2021 came early in the year when unusually cold weather brought snow to much of northern France<\/a>. The post with links to pictures of a Paris\u00a0enneig\u00e9<\/strong>5<\/a><\/sup>snow\/snow-covered<\/em><\/span> also included our first reference to the great Netflix series Lupin.<\/p>\n

The second most viewed post this year featured a Parisian landmark that would come back repeatedly throughout the year (when it re-opened for business and when its decorations for No\u00ebl<\/a> were unveiled). Our first visit to La Samaritaine was thanks to a fun commercial<\/a> that featured lots of useful vocabulary.<\/p>\n

In February (f\u00e9vrier<\/em>) we took a ride on le M\u00e9tro and discovered all the different types of people who \u201creside\u201d there thanks to Vlogger\u00a0Ga\u00ebten and his Instragram Les gens dans le M\u00e9tro. This number 7 blog<\/a> links to a numerous video and has lots of great vocabulary!<\/p>\n
