January is doing what January does. Days may be getting longer, but the holidays are behind us, le ciel est gris, et il fait froid<\/strong>1<\/a><\/sup>the skies are grey, and it is cold<\/em><\/span>. For those of you, like me, who are tired of the cold and grey, here\u2019s a fun little virtual escape in the form of a song from.<\/p>\n

Il fait froid<\/strong>, il fait frisquet<\/strong>, \u00e7a pelle<\/strong>2<\/a><\/sup>Meaning it is so cold that your skin is peeling off!<\/span>,\u00a0\u00e7a caille<\/strong> \u2026 these are all ways in French to say \u2018it\u2019s cold<\/em>\u2019! While the first one is the official\/correct one, the last one is my favorite.<\/p>\n

According to numerous sites including this one<\/a> and this one<\/a>, it comes from the verb cailler <\/em>which means to curdle (like milk)\u00a0<\/em>or\u00a0to clot (like blood).<\/em>\u00a0\u201c\u00c7a caille!<\/strong>\u201d is the perfect expression for when it is so cold you think your blood might freeze!<\/p>\n
