The film, a remake of a 2014 French hit, took home the awards for\u00a0meilleur acteur secondaire<\/strong>3<\/a><\/sup>best supporting actor<\/em><\/span>, meilleur sc\u00e9nario adapt\u00e9<\/strong>4<\/a><\/sup>best adapted screenplay<\/em><\/span>, and of course\u00a0meilleur film<\/strong>5<\/a><\/sup>best picture<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n

La famille B\u00e9lier<\/h3>\n

Like its French fore-bearer, Coda<\/a>6<\/a><\/sup>an acronym which stands for c<\/span>hild o<\/span>f d<\/span>eaf a<\/span>dults<\/em><\/span>, tells the story of a young girl, the only hearing member of her family, who discovers a talent for singing. As the only hearing member, both families rely on their daughter(s) to be a bridge between them and the rest of their communities.<\/p>\n

In Coda, which takes place in the seaside community of Gloucester, Massachusetts, the family are\u00a0p\u00eacheurs<\/strong>7<\/a><\/sup>fishermen<\/em><\/span>. In La famille B\u00e9lier<\/a>8<\/a><\/sup>The B\u00e9lier Family<\/em>; b\u00e9lier<\/strong> means ram<\/em> in French and is also the name for the corresponding Zodiac sign<\/span>, they are a family of\u00a0agriculteurs<\/strong>9<\/a><\/sup>farmers<\/em><\/span>. The French singer Louane<\/a> was chosen for the role of Paula B\u00e9lier by the film\u2019s\u00a0r\u00e9alisateur<\/strong>10<\/a><\/sup>director<\/em><\/span> after he saw her on the French version of The Voice.<\/a><\/p>\n
