(Grand &#8220;Th\u00e9ft&#8221; \u00e0-la-Menthe)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We keep you\u00a0<em>au courant<\/em> of <em>tous les <em>\u00e9v\u00e9nements <\/em>majeurs qui se passent\u00a0sur <strong>la sc\u00e8ne fran\u00e7aise<\/strong> <\/em>(all major events that happen\u00a0on the French scene.)\u00a0<strong><em>Alors, que s&#8217;est-il r<em>\u00e9cemment <\/em>pass<em>\u00e9?<\/em> <\/em>(So, what happened recently?)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ocean&#039;s twelve  - Th\u00e9 \u00e0 la menthe\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player.html?video=xymkw&#038;\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It seems that just this past\u00a0<strong><em>jeudi <\/em>(Thursday)<\/strong>,<strong> May 20th<\/strong>, someone was able to\u00a0enter overnight into the\u00a0<strong><em>Mus\u00e9e d&#8217;Art Moderne de Paris<\/em> &#8211; <\/strong>(The &#8220;Paris MOMA&#8221;),\u00a0right by <em>La Seine, <\/em>and across from\u00a0<em>La Tour Eiffel<\/em>,\u00a0not too far from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/sarrasine-honore-de-balzac\/\"><em>la Maison de Balzac<\/em><\/a> <\/strong> and the <strong>Roland Garros stadium<\/strong>, in the 16th <em>arrondissement<\/em> &#8211;\u00a0and simply\u00a0walk away with five <em>tableaux<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Oui,\u00a0et quels tableaux <\/em><\/strong>(Yes, and what paintings.)<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s already been\u00a0touted as\u00a0<em>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/culture\/article\/2010\/05\/21\/casse-record-au-musee-d-art-moderne-de-la-ville-de-paris_1361119_3246.html\">la\u00a0<strong>casse<\/strong> du si\u00e8cle<\/a><\/em>&#8221;\u00a0(the &#8220;heist of the century&#8221;), and the biggest in the history of French art so far. The Thursday\u00a0robbery comes after the <strong>2008 Zurich theft<\/strong> of <strong><em>chef d&#8217;<em>\u0153<\/em>uvres<\/em><\/strong> (masterpieces) by <strong>Van Gogh<\/strong>, <strong>Degas<\/strong>, <strong>C\u00e9zanne<\/strong>, and <strong>Monnet<\/strong>, roughly estimated altogether at $160 million.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong><em>\u0153<\/em><em>uvres d&#8217;art <\/em><\/strong>(artworks) that were stolen fom the <strong><em>Mus\u00e9e d&#8217;Art Moderne de Paris <\/em><\/strong>are reportedly:<\/p>\n<p>*\u00a0&#8220;<strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">La Pastorale<\/span><\/em><\/strong>&#8221; by <strong>Henri Matisse <\/strong>(1905\/1906), an especially praised painting in which\u00a0the influence of\u00a0the artist&#8217;s\u00a0chief\u00a0inspiration,\u00a0<strong>C\u00e9zanne<\/strong>, is\u00a0very perceptible.<\/p>\n<p>* &#8220;<em><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Le pigeon aux petits pois<\/span><\/strong>&#8220;<\/em> (&#8220;Dove with Green Peas&#8221;), painted\u00a0by <strong>Picasso <\/strong>in 1911.<\/p>\n<p>*\u00a0&#8220;<strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">L&#8217;olivier pr\u00e8s de l&#8217;Estaque<\/span><\/em><\/strong>&#8221; (&#8220;Olive Tree near l&#8217;Estaque&#8221;) by <strong>Georges Braque <\/strong>(1906.)<\/p>\n<p>* &#8220;<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Nature Morte aux Chandeliers<\/em><\/span><\/strong>&#8221; (&#8220;Still Life with Candlestick&#8221;)\u00a0by <strong>Fernand L\u00e9ger<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>* <strong>Modigliani<\/strong>&#8216;s 1906\u00a0&#8220;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>La<\/em> <em>Femme \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00c9ventail<\/em><\/span>&#8221; (&#8220;Woman with Fan&#8221;.)<\/p>\n<p>The fact that the masked\u00a0thief, who was\u00a0later caught\u00a0on <strong><em>t\u00e9l\u00e9vision en circuit ferm\u00e9<\/em><\/strong> (CCTV),\u00a0could achieve this\u00a0feat without\u00a0triggering the Museum&#8217;s\u00a0state-of-the-art\u00a0surveillance system has of course raised some serious <strong><em>points d&#8217;interrogations <\/em><\/strong>(questions marks.)<\/p>\n<p>Could it have been the work of\u00a0some &#8220;<strong>Vincent Cassel<\/strong><em>-esque<\/em>&#8221; <strong><em>voleur<\/em><\/strong><em>,<\/em> who somehow had to\u00a0perform a sort of\u00a0<strong>&#8220;laser dance<\/strong>&#8221;\u00a0in order to bypass the security system, as famously\u00a0featured\u00a0in the movie &#8220;<strong>Ocean Twelve<\/strong>&#8221; (see the above video)? A &#8220;<em><strong>Casse \u00e0-la-Cassel<\/strong><\/em>&#8221; ? Of course, Vincent Cassel is French (Remember him in &#8220;<strong><em>La Haine<\/em><\/strong>&#8220;?), and was also portrayed as\u00a0a French character\u00a0in that movie: Pay close attention to his accent when he talks to George Clooney. \u00a0As to the &#8220;laser dance&#8221; music, it\u00a0comes\u00a0from the song &#8220;<strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=akFZtK0GVU4\">Th\u00e9 \u00e0 la Menthe<\/a><\/em><\/strong>&#8221; (&#8220;Mint Tea&#8221;, hence the title &#8220;Grand &#8220;Th\u00e9ft&#8221; \u00e0-la-Menthe&#8221;)\u00a0by\u00a0the\u00a0French group <strong><em>La Caution<\/em>,<\/strong> who happen to be best buddies\u00a0with Vincent Cassel&#8212;and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/french\/yelle-fric-ttc\/\">TTC<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Is there a possible\u00a0connection (or, in this context,\u00a0a &#8220;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nP_7ZopT6oM\">French Connection<\/a><\/strong>&#8220;)?<\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t know that yet, but that is only being said as a &#8220;<strong>caution<\/strong> to the wise.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Or that could just be <strong><em>un indice <\/em><\/strong>(a clue)\u00a0to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-OamXHAG5vk\"><em>Inspecteur<\/em> Clouseau<\/a><\/strong>, who is most likely in charge of retrieving those <em><strong>tableaux inestimables<\/strong> !<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lB5gxpOyh38\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lB5gxpOyh38<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We keep you\u00a0au courant of tous les \u00e9v\u00e9nements majeurs qui se passent\u00a0sur la sc\u00e8ne fran\u00e7aise (all major events that happen\u00a0on the French scene.)\u00a0Alors, que s&#8217;est-il r\u00e9cemment pass\u00e9?
