In this case, it\u2019s actually <em>une s\u00e9rie <\/em>(a TV series) that was spun into two movies\u2026<\/p>\n<p><em>Vous connaissez <\/em>Sex and the City?<\/p>\n<p><em>Le deuxi\u00e8me film sort aujourd\u2019hui <\/em>(the second film comes out today), but I still love the show best. <em>Surtout la fin de la derni\u00e8re saison <\/em>(especially the end of the last season), when Carrie goes to Paris!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=eOm8oGGJRfc&#038;NR=1\">http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=eOm8oGGJRfc&amp;NR=1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Of course, it\u2019s a cartoon Paris, of ridiculous costumes, glittering lights, pastel bonbons and intimidating women. (The lights and the women are fair, actually.) Carrie\u2019s Paris is as inauthentic as her New York (sorry, SATC bus tours). But it was still fun to watch as Carrie fled New York for <em>le r\u00eave de Paris<\/em>, which didn\u2019t end as well as she had hoped.<\/p>\n<p>The pivotal scene of Carrie\u2019s disillusionment with Paris is played at <em>Place de la Concorde<\/em>, a plaza <em>au pied <\/em>(at the foot) of the Champs Elys\u00e9es, <em>face \u00e0 <\/em>(facing) l\u2019H\u00f4tel Crillon, a famous <em>h\u00f4tel de luxe <\/em>(luxury hotel). Carrie runs through traffic in a billowing tutu, while <em>la Tour Eiffel \u00e9tincelle <\/em>(sparkles) over the Seine.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00ab\u00a0La Belle et le bad boy<\/em>,\u00a0\u00bb <em>une chanson de MC Solaar, accompagne sa fuite<\/em> (\u00ab\u00a0The Belle and the bad boy,\u00a0\u00bb a song by MC Solaar, accompanies her flight). I love the arrangement of the song, and it\u2019s\u00a0poignant and catchy against Carrie\u2019s Paris misadventure. <em>C\u2019est dommage <\/em>(it\u2019s too bad) that a non-Francophone picked the song, because the lyrics <em>n\u2019ont rien \u00e0 voir<\/em> (have nothing to do with) <em>la sc\u00e8ne. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Tout de m\u00eame<\/em>, it\u2019s an iconic scene, and <em>je parie <\/em>(I bet) a lot of you will remember the song. <em>Voici les paroles, ainsi qu\u2019une traduction en anglais<\/em> (here are the word, as well as a translation in English). If you\u2019re gearing up for the movie today, I hope this brings back memories.
