Yes, it’s true,\u00a0dame nature<\/strong><\/em> (mother nature) may not have graced him with the charm of the famous French actors of his time, say, Alain\u00a0Delon<\/a><\/strong>, or the looks of a\u00a0Jean-Paul Belmondo<\/a>, <\/strong>but what he did have, however, is un don unique<\/em><\/strong> (a unique gift) for\u00a0la com\u00e9die<\/strong> !<\/em><\/p>\n

The beginnings of Louis de Fun\u00e8s<\/span><\/strong>, as a\u00a0young man in his 20’s, living\u00a0in\u00a0that momentous decade of the\u00a01940s,\u00a0were by no means easy:\u00a0After having tried\u00a0his hand at several jobs, he nearly always ended up getting… fired<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

And speaking of fire: \u00a0“Jouer avec le feu<\/strong>“<\/em> (“playing with fire”) seemed\u00a0to have been a constant fixation of his, one is tempted to\u00a0say, to almost a “pyromaniacal” degree.<\/p>\n

As\u00a0un gag <\/em><\/strong>or\u00a0une farce<\/em><\/strong> (a practical joke),\u00a0he once\u00a0almost burned to the ground one of the most distinguished movie and photography\u00a0schools\u00a0of Paris! Of course, that was an incident scandalous enough to have him once and for all kicked out of that prestigious\u00a0establishment..<\/p>\n
