Maybe this will sound like somewhat of a\u00a0rhetorical question to some of you, but\u00a0laquelle des deux versions pr\u00e9<\/em><\/strong>f\u00e9<\/em><\/strong>rez-vous<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(which one of the two versions do you prefer): The Jacques Brel <\/strong>or the David Bowie<\/strong> version?<\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, Jacques Brel is far from being\u00a0un<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0\u00e9tranger<\/strong><\/em> (a stranger) to The French Blog<\/span><\/a><\/strong>!<\/span>

But did you know that he was actually a *Belgian<\/span><\/a>*<\/strong>\u00a0artist?<\/span><\/p>\n

Most people, till today, tend to mistake him for a Frenchman<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

That, if anything,\u00a0highlights how much of a profound an impact he left on\u00a0la chanson\u00a0fran\u00e7aise<\/em><\/em><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

His name is\u00a0Jacques Brel<\/strong>, and contrary to many other singers and musicians, he\u00a0is one whose artistic\u00a0life “se passe de tout de commentaire<\/strong>”\u00a0<\/em>(does not require any comment), for he is famous to have once said:<\/span><\/p>\n
