What happens when six young people from Germany, Austria and Switzerland spend time together in a students’ flat-sharing community in Munich? Along with other young people, who are hanging around in exactly the same flat-sharing community, they author the one and only ultimate house rule: To have a full house during the day and make party every night – seven days a week.

It seems that this students’ community does not distinguish much from other ones. But, however, this community was indeed different. While having all those daily and nightly parties six of the revelers were not only there to drink beer but also to sing at the top of their voices. What was once a vamped kitchen concert has become genuine anarchistic German folk music and resulted in founding the band voXXclub.

The band members describe their kind of music as VolXspop (folXpop) as they give German folk music a modern and upbeat character. Does it sounds spooky? No, don’t worry! It is sounds tuny and is fun to listen to. You don’t believe me? Then prick up your ears, listen to Bavarian vernacular and form your own opinion of this kind of music

1. There are two words for “girl” in German: Mädchen and Mädel. Mädchen is common to refer to a female child, whereas Mädels (plural) is rather used to refer to adult female persons with whom you are familiar. For example, when a group of friends (males and females) are having a party and one of the male persons would like to know where the female friends are, he would ask: “Wo sind denn die Mädels?” (Where are the girls?)

2. It is not clear whether they sing wuiden Schieber (wild slider) or Woikenschieber (cloud slider). Both forms make sense here because they refer to the specific movement of the arms and hands as if you would slide something back and forth in the air, for example, clouds.
